Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. - Carroll University (1-3) dropped a wild game to UW-Superior by the final score of 24-14.
After finding themselves trailing 11-0 early, Carroll battled back to cut the Yellowjacket lead to 11-10 in the fifth inning. However, walks and errors defensively would unravel any comeback chances the Pioneers would have as they surrendered 13 unearned runs on 11 walks.
Offensively, the Pios put together their best effort of the young season. As a team Carroll out hit UWS 17-15 with sophomore catcher Ben Turner leading the attack finishing the day 3x5 with a triple and three RBI. Freshman Josh Evenson and Al Elenteny finshed with two doubles and two RBI apiece.
"We had a difficult time consistently finding the strike zone as a pitching staff." commented head coach Stein Rear, "We walked in five runs, your not going to win many games when that is the case. On the bright side, we continued to improve offensively and had a very good day at the plate."
Following their off-day on Wednesday, Carroll will return to action on Thursday as they face Augsburg College at 1pm local time.
