(Waukesha, Wis.) – The Carroll University men's basketball team overcame a seven point halftime deficit to earn an 84-83 overtime victory over Lawrence University to remain perfect in the Midwest Conference.
The Vikings shot 54.5% from the field in the first half and claimed a 37-30 lead at the break. The visitors then extended to a 12 point lead early in the second half.
Carroll battled back to tie the score at 45-45 with 14:03 to play but Lawrence quickly reclaimed the lead and appeared on its way to the upset victory. The Vikings led by eight points with 2:33 to play and held a seven point lead at 1:03.
But, the resilient Pioneers would outscore LU 11-4 down the stretch to force the overtime period.
In overtime, Carroll led from start to finish, beginning with a layup and free throw from Kyle Kernanen.
Keranen and Marcus Johnson led the Pioneers with 22 points each while Bryan Nagy and Ben Widdes added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
