(Waukesha, Wis.) – The Carroll University men's basketball team improved to 10-1 overall, 6-0 in the Midwest Conference with a 72-66 victory over Ripon College.
The Pioneers held a 35-33 lead at halftime, mostly due to connecting on eight three-pointers.
Carroll went on to hit two more three-pointers in the second half but the key to staving off a Ripon comeback was its 55.6% shooting in the final 20 minutes.
The Red Hawks opened the second half with a 7-0 run to lead 40-35 at 17:49 but Carroll quickly reclaimed its lead and would not relinquish it the remainder of the game.
The Pioneers held as much as a nine point lead in the second but Ripon made a late run and cut the deficit to two points with 49 seconds to play before Marcus Johnson (layup) and Kyle Keranen (free throws) secured CU's victory.
Bryan Nagy led Carroll with 14 points while Johnson chipped in with 13. Tyler Ingerbrigsten and Tyler Diehl came up huge off Carroll's bench with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
