(Mt. Vernon, Iowa) – Kyle Keranen scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Carroll University men's basketball team to 59-55 Midwest Conference victory at Cornell College.
The win improves Carroll to 11-1 overall, 7-0 in the Midwest Conference while the Rams fall to 4-8 overall, 2-5 in league play.
The Pioneers connected on 52.2% of their field goal attempts in the first half but cooled off in the second half to 39.1% shooting. Carroll shined from the free throw line however, hitting all 14 attempts, including a 12-of-12 performance in the second half.
Keranen led the way from the charity stripe, going 10-for-10.
Bryan Nagy and Tanner Zaeske added 10 points for CU.
Cornell led by one at halftime but at 8:48 of the second half Carroll held an 11-point advantage. The Rams pulled to within two points with nine seconds remaining but Keranen drained a pair of free throws to secure the victory.
