(Waukesha, Wis.) - Seniors Bryan Nagy and Nick Lange combined to shoot 11-of-16 from the field in their final game in Van Male Fieldhouse, leading the Carroll University men's basketball team to a 65-55 victory over Cornell College.
Nagy scored 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting while also grabbing a team-best 13 rebounds. Marcus Johnson led all Pioneers with 15 points to go along with nine rebounds while Ben Widdes chipped in with 13 points. Lange added eight points off the bench on 4-of-4 shooting.
The Pioneers held a 31-21 lead at halftime after limiting the visitors to just 36.4% shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
A three-pointer by Carroll's Joel Heesch gave CU a 16 point lead at 45-29 with 14:52 remaining in the game.
The Rams would battle back though, cutting their deficit to four points at 49-45 with nine minutes remaining.
Carroll held a six point lead with 1:08 to play then hit four consecutive free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
