(Appleton, Wis.) – The Carroll University men's basketball team pulled away from Lawrence University in the second half for a 70-51 Midwest Conference victory.
The Pioneers led 28-25 at halftime but sizzled in the second half on 60.7% shooting from the field in the final 20 minutes.
The Vikings pulled to within two points at 17:13 of the second half (32-30) but Carroll caught fire and extended its lead to 10 points at 45-35 at the 11:27 mark.
From that point on, Lawrence would get no closer, with Carroll pushing its lead to 21 points with 3:55 to play to put a dagger into the home team.
Kyle Keranen led all scorers with 18 points while Marcus Johnson chipped in with 17 points and seven rebounds. Bryan Nagy dished out four assists to go along with his double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Carroll improves to 18-4 overall, 14-3 in the Midwest Conference. The 14 wins tie the program's most MWC victories since joining the league in the 1992-1993 season.
The Pioneers are currently ranked No. 8 in the central region and received seven votes in the latest D3hoops.com top 25 poll.
