(Waukesha, Wis.) – The Carroll University men's basketball team snapped a two game losing streak with an entertaining 127-126 victory over Grinnell College.
 
CU's bench came up huge tonight, recording 71 points. Tyler Diehl led the bench brigade with a game and career-high 30 points on 11-of-13 shooting from the field. Nick Lange and Tyler Ingebrigsten also shined off the bench with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
 
Grinnell led by as many as nine points early but Carroll responded with a flurry and claimed a 48-33 lead with 8:30 remaining in the opening half.
 
The visitors slowly chipped away at their deficit and went into halftime leading Carroll 69-67.
 
The Pioneers had the first run of the second half and built a five-point lead at 84-79 with 14:09 to play.
 
Grinnell surged again over the next eight minutes and led 106-98 at the 6:49 mark. GC still led by seven points with just over four minutes to play.
 
The teams exchanged leads several times in the closing seconds, with Carroll getting the winning basket on a Joel Heesch layup with seven seconds remaining.
 
Three Carroll starters reached double figures in scoring. Marcus Johnson scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Kyle Keranen added 18 points. Bryan Nagy added 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.
