(Waukesha, Wis.) – The Carroll University men's basketball team cruised to a 76-55 victory over Knox College to secure a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament.
The Pioneers are currently second in the league standings and can do no worse than the tournament's No. 3 seed. Carroll and Ripon College are likely to jockey for the No. 2 and 3 seed for the remainder of the regular season.
Bryan Nagy had his usual standout all-around game for CU with 15 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocked shots. Carroll's bench once again provided a spark with Tyler Ingebrigsten and Joe Heesch adding 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Carroll jumped out to a 35-22 lead at halftime and quickly extended to a 17-point lead just under a minute into the second half.
The Prairie Fire made a run over the next three minutes to cut the Pioneer lead to 39-32 at 16:18 but Carroll quickly pushed it back to double digits moments later.
Knox was unable to get to within 16 points of Carroll in the final six minutes.
The Pioneers shot 66.7% from the field in the second half and connected on all 13 of their free throw attempts.
