(Waukesha, Wis.) – Malory Christenson scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Carroll University women's basketball team to an 85-71 victory over Knox College.
Christenson increased her career-scoring total to 1,194 points to move into sixth place on Carroll's all-time scoring list.
Three other Pioneer starters joined Christenson in double figures in scoring. Morgan Lund and Brittany Groer chipped in with 18 points each while Emma Kopp added 17.
The foursome accounted for 68 of the team's points and also filled the statistics sheet in other categories. Christenson had eight rebounds and six assists; Lund had four rebounds and three assists; Groer had eight rebounds and six assists; Kopp had nine rebounds and three assists.
Tonight's victory snaps a four-game losing streak for the Pioneers and keeps feint hope alive for a berth in the four-team Midwest Conference Tournament.
The visitors led 16-15 after one period but Carroll hung tough and tied the score at 36-36 at halftime. The difference on the night was the third quarter, where the Pioneers blasted Knox 25-12. Carroll outscored the Prairie Fire 24-23 in the fourth quarter to keep a comfortable lead.
