(Waukesha, Wis.) – The Carroll University women's lacrosse team got a head start on Carroll's 21 other athletic programs.
 
The Pioneers knocked off Elmhurst College, 10-7 to pick up the program's first-ever College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin victory.
 
Carroll women and men's lacrosse currently compete in the CCIW while the other 20 athletic programs will join in the fall. The Pioneers were members of the CCIW through the spring of 1992. Carroll women's lacrosse played its inaugural season in 2015.
 
The visiting Bluejays jumped out to an early 1-0 lead at 3:01 but Carroll equalized 10 seconds later then gave the Pioneers a 2-1 lead at 5:00 mark.
 
Elmhurst retook the lead at 3-2 following goals at 7:48 and 13:16.
 
Carroll ended the first by scoring seven unanswered goals to lead 9-3 at the break.
 
The Bluejays outscored Carroll 4-1 in the second half but it was too little, too late for the CCIW veterans.
 
Kailey Leahy led all scorers with five goals and two assists while Donna January and Katie Majewski added two goals each. Ariannah Ritter found the back of the net once.
 
Shelby Will picked up the win in net with a 6-save performance.
