(Waukesha, Wis.) – Shelby Sommer and Hannah Miller pitched the Carroll University softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Lawrence University and up to third place in the Midwest Conference standings.
The Pioneers have won six consecutive MWC tilts to move into solid contention for one of the league's four post-season tournament spots.
Sommer went the distance in Carroll's 6-3 game one victory over the Vikings. She surrendered just five hits and one earned run.
Kelly Sykes went 2-fo-4 with two runs batted in while Kelly Strasser, Sommer, Miller and Veronica Rodriguez each recoreded multi-hit games.
In the nightcap, it was Miller's turn to dominate from the mound. She went the distance and gave up seven hits and three earned runs.
Micah Clutter drove in a game high three runs while Megan Kohlmetz went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
