(Beloit, Wis.) – The Carroll University softball team cruised to a doubleheader sweep at Beloit College in the Midwest Conference opener.
The Pioneers clobbered the Lady Bucs in game one, 15-6 then earned a 6-0 shutout victory in game two.
In the opener, Hannah Miller pitched a complete game and went 2-for-5 at the plate with a game-high five runs batted in. Kelly Strasser went 2-for-3 with three RBI's while Shelby Sommer and Annika Graves also drove in two.
The score was tied at 6-6 through five innings but Carroll exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth inning and added two more in the seventh.
In the nightcap, Sommer was dominant on the mound. She pitched a complete game, four-hitter while stifling BC bats. Sommer also went 2-of-4 at the plate with an RBI. Kelly Sykes was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
