ELMHURST, Ill. - Junior guard Brittney Wald (Antigo, Wis.) contributed a season-high 29 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals but the Carroll University women's basketball team lost to second-place Elmhurst College 100-69 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at R.A. Faganel Hall on Wednesday.
It was the fifth consecutive loss for Carroll, which dropped to 1-8 in the conference standings and 1-16 overall.
Elmhurst, which improved to 7-2 in league and 15-3 overall, outscored the Pioneers 58-29 in the first half - including a 26-10 run in the opening quarter.
Junior forward Morgan Lund (Mondovi, Wis.) scored 21 points for Carroll, which made only one 3-point basket but converted 22 of 26 free throws. Freshman guard Caylee Koker (Kenosha, Wis.) had 11 points with sophomore guard Sara Hartl (Racine, Wis.) adding six points for the Pioneers, who shot 42.8 percent from field-goal range but were outrebounded 45-23.
Junior guard/forward Mikaela Eppard scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Elmhurst, which made 10 3-pointers, 16 of 19 free throws and shot 40 percent from the field. Senior guard Erika Johnson and junior forward Kaela Jones each had 15 points for the Bluejays, who had 25 assists.
