Carroll learns in loss to No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan

Pioneers continue to make strides forward in difficult test

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The learning process continued for the Carroll University women's volleyball team as it was swept by No. 13-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University 25-20, 25-18, 25-11 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at Van Male Field House on Wednesday night.
It was the second dual loss to a nationally ranked opponent this season for Carroll, which dropped to 0-3 in the conference standings and 8-12 overall with the Homecoming Week loss.
The young, energized Pioneers played even with the high-octane Titans to start both the pivotal first and second sets but gradually lost momentum and struggled to recover.
Senior outside hitter Dana Voltolina (St. Charles, Ill.) collected a team-high six kills for Carroll. Sophomore outside hitter Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) followed with seven digs, five kills, three service aces and a block for the Pioneers, who finished with 26 kills, 37 digs, five aces, five blocks and 26 assists. Freshman middle blocker Melanie Barrios (Bolingbrook, Ill.) had four kills  and four blocks.
Junior libero Amanda Hahn (Itasca, Ill.) contributed 10 digs with sophomore setter Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) adding seven digs and 12 assists.
Carroll committed only 15 errors in the contest.
Junior outside hitter Tyler Brown had a team-high 14 kills for Illinois Wesleyan, which won its school-record tying 11th straight dual to improve to 3-0 in conference and 13-4 overall.
