Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CAROL STREAM, Ill. – Carroll University (8-17, 3-7 CCIW) swept both ends of a double header against Wheaton College on Friday afternoon 6-3 and 2-1 in 11 innings.

Game one saw the Pioneers take an early 1-0 lead in the third inning.  Jake Langford would reach base on a hit by pitch with two outs and promptly score on a Sam Harmeyer double over the left fielder's head.

Again in the top of the fifth the Pios would work their two out magic.  Langford and Harmeyer would single to put runners at first and second.  Hunter Frey would then drive home Langford to extend the lead to 2-0.  AJ Johnson would walk to load the bases and Brady Durni would single to drive home Harmeyer and Frey to push the lead to 4-0.  Johnson would then score from second on an infield single off the bat of Matt Putman, moving Durni to third.  Carroll would cap the inning on a double steal allowing Durni to steal home and up the lead to 6-0.

Wheaton would push across a single run in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-1 and add a pair of unearned runs in the ninth to bring the final score to 6-3.

Sophomore Andrew Stone was stellar on the mound, working seven innings giving up just the one run while striking out five to earn the win.  Jake Sweet worked a clean eighth inning and Jacob Langford sealed the win in the ninth.

Game two saw the Pioneers get on the board quickly in the top of the first inning.   Langford led off the game with a single to left, Harmeyer would single to right and Langford would score on a Frey ground out to give the Pios the 1-0 lead.

That lead would hold until the bottom of the eighth inning.  With two outs and a runner on second, an errant throw would pull the Carroll first baseman off the bag and allow the Wheaton runner to score to even the score at 1-1.

The score would remain knotted until the top of the eleventh inning.  Frey would lead off the inning with a single to right.  Following a pair of strike outs, Frey would steal second base with two outs.  Putman would then single home Frey to give the Pios the 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the inning.

Sophomore Logan Johnson, who had entered the game on the mound in the ninth inning, would work a 1-2-3 bottom half to seal the sweep and earn the win on the mound for Carroll.

Sophomore Cam Godinsky started on the mound for the Pioneers and was outstanding working seven and two-thirds innings without surrendering an earned run while being stuck with the no-decision.

Johnson worked the final three innings, allowing only a bunt single to reach base as he earned his first collegiate win.

Carroll will return to action as the host CCIW leading North Central in a double header starting at 1pm in Waukesha.
