NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Carroll University women's lacrosse team lost to second-place North Central College 17-2 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was the third straight conference loss for the Pioneers, who dropped to 0-3 in the league standings and 2-12 overall.
Senior midfielder/attacker Kassie Whaling scored a game-high four goals to lead North Central, which improved to 2-0 in conference and 9-4 overall.
The Cardinals outscored Carroll 12-1 in the first half, highlighted by three unanswered goals over the course of the opening six minutes.
Sophomore midfielder Ariannah Ritter (Sun Prairie, Wis.) scored an unassisted goal at the 22:45 mark of the first half for Carroll, which was outshot 36-13 in the opening half - including an 18-4 shot-on-goal margin.Â
Ritter, who leads the team with 23 goals this season, has reached the scoring column in 10 games this season.
Junior attacker Betty Koenig (Sun Prairie, Wis.) had the other goal off an assist from Katie Majewski (Mundelein, Ill.) in the second half for the Pioneers, who generated five free-position shots but committed 29 turnovers
Sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) registered 11 saves.
