WAUKESHA, Wis. - Freshman attackman Jeff Schultz (Franklin, Wis.) and freshman midfielder Christopher Bechtel (Sammamish, Wash.) each scored a goal and contributed an assist but the Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to Augustana College 18-2 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin home finale at Schneider Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was the fourth consecutive conference loss for the Pioneers, who dropped to 0-4 in the league standings and 4-10 overall.
Augustana, which improved to 3-1 in conference and 7-8 overall, led 10-1 at halftime - propelled by five momentum-building goals over the course of the final six minutes of the first quarter.
Junior attackman John Danko had a team-high four goals with sophomore attackman Nick Gallo and sophomore midfielder Adam Borgetti each adding three apiece for the Vikings, who outshot Carroll 53-11 - including a 36-3 shot-on-goal margin.
Freshman goalkeeper Abe Escrada (Sammamish, Wash.) registered 18 saves in playing the entire game for Carroll, which committed 41 turnovers and couldn't capitalize on its three, extra-man opportunities.
