MONMOUTH, Ill. - Sophomore midfielders Ariannah Ritter (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and Katie Majewski (Mundelein, Ill.) each scored four unassisted goals to lead the Carroll University women's lacrosse team to a 12-7 victory over Monmouth College in a nonconference game at Zorn Stadium on Wednesday night.
It was the second victory of the season for Carroll, which showcased its progress by snapping an eight-game losing streak and improving to 2-9 overall.
The Pioneers scored six unanswered goals in the first half, highlighted by three straight goals within the opening 14 minutes.
Graduate attacker Donna January (Andower, Minn.) had a hat trick for Carroll, which maintained a 21-20 shot-on-goal advantage - including a momentum-building 11-10 margin in the first half. 
Freshman defender Shay Fulton (Delafield, Wis.) had the other goal on an assist from junior attacker Betty Koenig (Sun Prairie, Wis.) to round out the dominant effort for the Pioneers, who generated six goals in each half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) was a stabilizing force throughout the battle, registering 10 of her 13 total saves in the first half to help preserve a victory.
Freshman midfielder Makayla Shaw scored a team-high four goals for Monmouth, which dropped to 0-11 overall.
