RIPON, Wis. - Senior outside hitter
Dana Voltolina (St. Charles, Ill.) contributed a team-high 16 kills to lead the Carroll University women's volleyball team to a five-set 25-15, 25-23, 22-25, 23-25, 17-15 victory over Lawrence University to open the first round of the Red Hawk Invitational at Ripon College on Friday afternoon.
It was the first five-set victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 3-7 overall.
Trailing 15-14 in the decisive third set, the Pioneers abruptly answered with three straight points to seal a victory.
Sophomore outside hitter
Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) finished with six kills in the battle, sparking the critical run with a game-tying kill for Carroll - which took advantage of back-to-back attack errors to end the dramatic, fierce marathon.
Sophomore middle blocker
Erika Dunnam (Shawano, Wis.) followed with 13 kills and two blocks for the Pioneers, who captured the momentum-shifting opening two sets. Sophomore outside hitter
Sydney Wilkins (Portage, Ind.) had 11 kills, 13 digs and five blocks.
Junior defensive specialistÂ
 Amanda Hahn (Itasca, Ill.) collected three service aces and 24 digs for Carroll, which finished with 10.5 blocks, 57 assists and 87 digs in the contest. Sophomore setter
Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) added two aces, 11 digs and 33 assists.
