ELMHURST, Ill. - Senior outside hitter
Dana Voltolina (St. Charles, Ill.) collected a team-high 10 kills and four blocks as the Carroll University women's volleyball team lost to Elmhurst College 18-25, 25-20, 25-12, 17-25, 18-16 in a thrilling, five-set College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual opener Tuesday night.
It was a fierce, hard-fought 2-hour, 13-minute marathon for Carroll, which entered the contest riding the momentum of a four-match winning streak and dropped to 6-8 overall.
Tied 16-16 in the decisive fifth set, Elmhurst took advantage of an unforced error and sealed a victory with a kill by 6-foot senior rightside hitter Mel Lundin.
Junior middle blocker
Karley Wolf (Roselle, Ill.) followed with eight kills and six blocks for Carroll, which had 44 kills, 11 blocks and 41 assists. Sophomore outside hitter
Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) had eight kills and 18 digs.

Amanda Hahn (Itasca, Ill.), who received CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honors for her standout performance in the Red Hawk Invitational over the weekend, contributed 37 digs for the Pioneers. Sophomore outside hitter
Kylie Mueller (Fox Lake, Ill.) chipped in five kills with sophomore setter
Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) adding three service aces and 19 assists.
Senior middle hitter Hannah Davis had a meet-high 25 kills and Lundin had 12 kills to lead Elmhurst, which won its league opener to improve to 4-7 overall.
