PLYMOUTH, Wis. - Freshman guard
Theresa Wichser (Waukesha, Wis.) scored a team-high 17 points with five baskets from 3-point range as the Carroll University women's basketball team defeated Lakeland University 72-57 in a nonconference game at Woltzen Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
It was the second consecutive victory for Carroll, which generated a season-high point total en route to improving to 3-3 overall.
The Pioneers led 43-40 with 4:07 remaining in the third quarter and responded with 10 unanswered points over a critical two-minute span to pull away.
Carroll demonstrated its depth and balance with nine players reaching the scoring column, including four in double figures.

Kayla Stefka (Johnsburg, Ill.) registered a double-double by finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Carroll, which converted seven 3-pointers, 17 of 28 free throws and shot 38.1 percent from field-goal range. Sophomore forward

Carroll, which scored the first five points of the game and never trailed, outrebounded the Muskies 50-36 - maintaining a 20-10 advantage on the offensive glass.
Senior guard/forward Miranda Jacobson scored 17 points with three 3-pointers, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals for Lakeland, which dropped to 3-2 overall. Junior center Kylie Birkholz had nine points, four rebounds and a steal for the Muskies, who made six 3-pointers, 15 of 30 free throws, shot 35.3 percent from the field and committed 19 turnovers.
