ALMA, Mich. - Freshman midfielder
Michaela Johnson (Mukwonago, Wis.) scored a team-high five goals to lead the Carroll University women's lacrosse team to a 15-9 victory over Alma College in a nonconference game at Bahlke Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was the season opener for Carroll, which outscored the Scots 10-5 in the first half - including a momentum-building 7-2 margin over the course of the opening 11 minutes.
The dominant road victory took on added meaning as it snapped a six-game losing streak dating back to April 17, 2017.

Clara Jelacic (Waukesha, Wis.) each contributed a hat trick for the Pioneers, who outshot Alma 48-16 in the contest - highlighted by a 40-13 shot-on-goal advantage. Freshman midfielder
Courtenay Karls (Waukesha, Wis.) added the other goal and two assists.
Junior goalkeeper
Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) registered four saves in playing the entire 60 minutes for Carroll, which capitalized on 11 free-position shots.
Senior midfielder Brianna Soriano had five goals and senior attacker Shelby Frazer had a hat trick for Alma in its season opener. Sophomore goalkeeper Allie Ray had a career-high 25 saves for the Scots.
