Elaine Anderson (Bristol, Wis.) drove in the winning run on a one-out single in the bottom of the seventh to cap a dramatic three-run rally as the Carroll University softball team defeated Hendrix College 6-5 in a nonconference showdown to begin the second day of the PFX Spring Games at Hancock Park on Sunday afternoon.
It was the first victory of the 13-game Spring Break trip and snapped a string of three straight losses for Carroll, which improved to 1-2 in the tournament and 3-4 overall.
Trailing 5-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Pioneers answered with a decisive three-run rally.

Rosie Craine (Wheaton, Ill.) each had two hits and drove in a run to fuel a nine-hit offensive attack for the Pioneers, who scored three times in the second. Junior right fielderÂ

Sophomore right-hander
Amanda Osterhus (Munster, Ind.) was the winning pitcher, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits with eight strikeouts and two walks to earn a complete-game victory.
Osterhus threw 125 pitches in the pressure-packed contest, including 80 strikes.
