HANOVER, Ind. -
Clara Jelacic contributed five goals and three assists to lead the Carroll University women's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory over Hanover College in a nonconference game at Alumni Stadium on Monday afternoon.
It was the first game of a Spring Break road trip and a program-best fifth consecutive victory for Carroll, which remained undefeated with an impressive 5-0 record.
The Pioneers outscored Hanover 11-8 in the first half, highlighted by five unanswered goals over a critical nine-minute stretch.
Jelacic, a 5-foot-7 freshman midfielder from Waukesha, Wis. who scored three times in the first half and currently leads the team with 22 goals, finished with eight points to establish a program record for points in a single game.
Freshman midfielder
Michaela Johnson (Mukwonago, Wis.) had five goals and two assists for the high-powered Pioneers, who outshot Hanover 32-22 in the contest - including a key 17-9 margin in the second half.
Senior attacker
Betty Koenig (Sun Prairie, Wis.) followed with two goals and two assists.
Junior midfielder
Ariannah Ritter (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and junior attacker
Amanda Ferr (Franklin, Wis.) each added a goal for the Pioneers, who converted five free-position shots.
Junior goalkeeper
Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) registered nine saves in playing the entire 60 minutes.
Senior midfielder Mallory Fogus and sophomore midfielder Kinna Laymon each had a hat trick for Hanover, which entered the day riding the momentum of a three-game winning streak but dropped to 4-3 overall.
