IRVING, Texas - The Carroll University men's lacrosse team finished its Spring Break trip with a humbling 26-2 loss to Southwestern University in a nonconference game at the University of Dallas' Crusader Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was the fourth consecutive loss for Carroll, which dropped to 0-2 on the challenging road trip and 2-5 overall.
The Pioneers were outscored 16-2 in the first half, including a momentum-shifting 7-1 margin in the opening quarter.
The contest remained tied 1-1 after the first five minutes but Carroll surrendered six unanswered goals to close out the critical quarter.
Sophomore attackman
Jeff Schultz (Franklin, Wis.) and sophomore midfielder
Dannon Ivey (Grass Valley, Calif.) each scored a first-half goal for Carroll, which was outshot by a 52-14 margin.
Senior attackman Matt Amerie contributed four goals for Southwestern, which generated a season-high goal total en route to improving to 8-6 overall. Freshman attackman/midfielder Zac Asbury followed with three goals and six assists.
