LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Carroll University women's volleyball team lost to Milwaukee School of Engineering 23-25, 25-16, 28-30, 25-21, 15-13 in a thrilling five-set season-opening dual meet to begin the Lake Forest Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Leading 2-1 after the first three sets, the Pioneers struggled to maintain the momentum and close out the first-round battle.
Junior outside hitter
Sydney Wilkins (Portage, Ind.) contributed a team-high 10 kills and 18 digs to lead Carroll. Senior outside hitter
Josie Wierzal (Frankfort, Ill.) had nine kills with sophomore outside hitter
Sam Penzkowski (Racine, Wis.) following with six kills, 13 digs and three service aces.Â
Senior defensive specialist
Amanda Hahn (Itasca, Ill.) collected 23 digs while junior setters
Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) and
Jennilyn Joy Cave (Bolingbrook, Ill.) each added 22 assists.
Senior outside hitter Hannah Pekarek had a meet-high 11 kills, 22 digs, three blocks and two assists for MSOE.
