LISLE, Ill. - Junior outside hitter
Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) contributed a team-high 10 kills, nine digs and two blocks but it wasn't enough as the Carroll University women's volleyball team lost to Benedictine University 25-21, 33-31, 25-16 in a nonconference dual meet at the Rice Center on Wednesday night.
It was the first three-set loss of the young season for Carroll, which dropped to 3-2 overall.
Tied 31-31 in the momentum-shifting marathon second set, the Pioneers attempted to finish but committed what proved to be costly back-to-back attack errors.

Josie Wierzal (Frankfort, Ill.) and junior outside hitter
Sydney Wilkins (Portage, Ind.) each followed with eight kills for the Pioneers. Senior defensive specialist
Trystam Carr (Charlottesville, Va.) collected 17 digs, junior middle blocker
Erika Dunnam (Shawano, Wis.) had four blocks and junior setter
Jennilyn Joy Cave (Bolingbrook, Ill.) added 13 assists.
Junior outside hitter Taylor Dunwell had 10 kills and 14 digs to lead Benedictine, which improved to 2-1 overall following its energized home opener. Sophomore outside hitter Molly Stock added nine kills for the Eagles.
