Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Valiant effort falls short in loss to St. Norbert

Mueller finishes with team-high 10 kills to lead Pios versus former MWC rival

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Senior outside hitter Kylie Mueller (Fox Lake, Ill.) finished with 10 kills but it wasn't enough as the Carroll University women's volleyball team lost to St. Norbert College 25-20, 25-18, 22-25, 29-27 in a nonconference dual meet at Van Male Field House on Wednesday night.
It was the fifth, four-set loss of the season for Carroll, which entered the showdown riding the momentum of last week's College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin victory over Illinois Wesleyan but dropped to 11-9 overall with the Homecoming Week setback.
The matchup was the beginning of a challenging week for the Pioneers, who are scheduled to face ninth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday and host fourth-ranked Carthage College in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual Saturday evening.
Senior outside hitter Erika Dunnam (Shawano, Wis.) contributed eight kills and two blocks for the Pioneers, who finished with 12 kills and a .243 hitting percentage in winning the confidence-building third set. Senior outside hitter Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) followed with five kills and 11 digs. Senior outside hitter Sydney Wilkins (Portage, Ind.) collected five kills.
Freshman defensive specialist Emily Konop (Oregon, Wis.) had 16 digs and four service aces for Carroll. Senior setter Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) added 19 assists.
Sophomore outside hitter Grace Baumann had a team-high 17 kills with freshman outside hitter Katelyn Hanrahan and senior middle blocker Lexie Van Hiel each finishing with 13 kills for high-powered former longtime Midwest Conference rival St. Norbert, which improved to 15-6 overall.
