WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to Kalamazoo College 21-4 in a cold, blustery nonconference game at Schneider Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was the fifth home-field loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 0-6 overall.
The Pioneers trailed 3-1 at the end of the opening 15 minutes but were outscored by a momentum-shifting 6-2 difference in the second quarter.
It proved to be the turning point as Carroll managed only one goal in the second half.
Sophomore midfielder
Michael Peters (Chicago, Ill.) contributed two goals with an assist for the Pioneers, who were outshot 58-29 - including a 37-13 shot-on-goal margin. Junior attackman
Jeff Schultz (Franklin, Wis.) and sophomore attackman
Airik Ranjo (San Diego, Calif.) each added a goal. Junior midfielder
Christopher Bechtel (Sammamish, Wash.) had a team-best two assists.
Junior goalkeeper
Abe Escarda (Sammamish, Wash.) registered 16 saves in playing the entire 60 minutes.
Freshman midfielder Jack Loveland had a game-high four goals and an assist to lead Kalamazoo, which improved to 3-0 overall. Senior attackman Jake Bonifacio and sophomore attackman Jack Smith each added three goals for the Hornets, who scored five unanswered goals in the third quarter.
