NOTRE DAME, Indiana - Sophomore midfielder
Michaela Johnson (Mukwonago, Wis.) finished with a season-high six goals and two assists as the Carroll University women's lacrosse team defeated Saint Mary's College 16-9 in a nonconference game at the Purcell Athletic Fields on Saturday afternoon.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for Carroll, which won on the road for the third time this season and improved to 5-1 overall.
Johnson also contributed five groundballs, won three draw controls, caused two turnovers and converted on a free-position shot for the Pioneers, who outscored Saint Mary's 10-5 in what became a decisive first half - including seven unanswered goals over a 10-minute stretch.
Sophomore midfielder
Courtenay Karls (Waukesha, Wis.) followed with a hat trick for Carroll, which was outshot 28-23 but generated 20 shots on goal.

Brittney Wald (Antigo, Wis.) contributed six groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Senior goalkeeper
Shelby Schoob (Sun Prairie, Wis.) registered 11 saves for the Pioneers.
Sophomore midfielder Erin Doyle scored a team-high five goals for Saint Mary's, which dropped to 3-4 overall.
