NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior right fielder
Annika Graves (Muskego, Wis.) went 3-for-4 and scored as the result of an error in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Carroll University softball team lost to high-powered North Central College 6-1 to cap a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin doubleheader at Shanower Family Field on Sunday afternoon.
It was the third consecutive road loss for Carroll, which dropped to 0-2 in the conference standings and 10-9 overall.
The Pioneers finished third and advanced to the prestigious CCIW Tournament for the first time in program history in 2018.
North Central, which improved to 2-0 in league and 14-2 overall, scored three unanswered runs in the momentum-shifting top of the second.
Freshman right fielder Molly Cann and freshman first baseman Breanna Adams each went 3-for-4 to fuel a 12-hit offensive attack for the Cardinals, who scored what proved to be the winning run on an RBI single to right field by sophomore second baseman Samantha Gadomski in the second.

Freshman right-hander Gianna Corban was the winning pitcher, scattering seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks to earn a complete-game victory.
