Pioneers earn first victory of the season

Mueller finishes with team-high 12 kills versus Univ. of Redlands to open second day of Pacific Coast Classic

LA VERNE, Calif. - Senior outside hitter Kylie Mueller (Fox Lake, Ill.) finished with a team-high 12 kills as the Carroll University women's volleyball team defeated University of Redlands 24-26, 25-14, 25-20, 26-24 to begin the final day of the Pacific Coast Classic on Saturday afternoon.
It was the first dual-meet victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 1-2 on its season-opening West Coast trip.
Senior middle blocker Erika Dunnam (Shawano, Wis.) followed with nine kills for the Pioneers, who generated 10 service aces and 14 blocks in the contest.
Senior outside hitter Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) contributed six kills, 20 digs and three aces for Carroll, which responded to an early one-set deficit by showcasing its composure in the pivotal, momentum-shifting second set - powered by a .276 hitting percentage.
Senior setter Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) collected three aces and 14 assists with freshman defensive specialist Emily Konop (Oregon, Wis.) chipping in three aces and 14 digs for the Pioneers. Junior middle blocker Rachel Noonan (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had eight blocks and senior setter Jennilyn Joy Cave (Bolingbrook, Ill.) added 18 assists with 13 digs.
Maloree Kupp had 15 kills for Redlands, which dropped to 0-4 overall.
