Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Carroll suffers second straight CCIW loss

Pioneers swept by Augustana in difficult road test

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Junior middle blocker Rachel Noonan (Crystal Lake, Ill.) contributed a team-high six kills, two blocks and a service ace as the Carroll University women's volleyball team was swept by Augustana College 26-24, 25-17, 25-15 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet at the Roy J. Carver Center on Wednesday night.
It was the second consecutive conference dual loss for Carroll, which dropped to 0-2 in the league standings and 10-6 overall.
Tied 24-24 in the opening set, the Pioneers' hopes for a momentum-shifting victory fell short as the result of an Augustana kill by freshman middle blocker Ja'nya Davis and an unforced error - struggling to capitalize on 12 kills and a .214 hitting percentage.
It proved to be the turning point as Augustana took control of the remaining two sets to ensure a victory in its home opener.
Senior outside hitter Sydney Wilkins (Portage, Ind.) followed with four kills and an ace for the Pioneers, who generated 23 kills, committed 14 errors and finished with a .084 hitting percentage.
Senior setter Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) collected three kills, four digs and five assists. Junior outside hitter Sam Penzkowski (Racine, Wis.) had three kills and a block.

Freshman defensive specialist Emily Konop (Oregon, Wis.) contributed 13 digs and an ace with senior setter Jennilyn Joy Cave (Bolingbrook, Ill.) adding 16 assists.
Senior middle blocker/outside hitter Grace Bialobok had nine kills to lead Augustana, which improved to 2-0 in league and 7-7 overall.
