Pioneers finish 1-1 after first day of tourney

Carroll swept by UW-Stout to round out opening round of UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Carroll University women's volleyball team was swept by the University of Wisconsin-Stout 25-18, 25-22, 25-21 to cap the opening round of the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic at Kolf Sports Center on Friday night.
It was the third nonconference loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 1-1 in the tournament and 3-3 overall.
Senior outside hitter Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) contributed a team-high eight kills, eight digs and a service ace for the Pioneers, who registered 26 kills and eight blocks. Senior outside hitter Kylie Mueller (Fox Point, Ill.) followed with six kills and junior middle blocker Rachel Noonan (Crystal Lake, Ill.) had five kills and three blocks.
Freshman defensive specialist Emily Konop (Oregon, Wis.) had 10 digs and an ace with senior setter Jennilyn Joy Cave (Bolingbrook, Ill.) adding 13 assists.
Lexie Nelson finished with 13 kills and 15 assists for UW-Stout, which improved to 5-0 overall.
