Carroll finishes 3-1 in tournament

Pioneers win five-set thriller over Wisconsin Lutheran in finale of UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic

OSHKOSH, Wis. - Senior outside hitter Kylie Mueller (Fox Lake, Ill.) contributed a team-high 15 kills, 14 digs and two blocks as the Carroll University women's volleyball team outlasted Wisconsin Lutheran College 21-25, 26-28, 25-23, 25-17, 15-11 in a five-set thriller to conclude the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic at Kolf Sports Center on Saturday.
It was the second straight victory for Carroll, which finished the challenging two-day tournament with a 3-1 record and improved to 5-3 overall.
The Pioneers, who showcased their resilience by overcoming an early two-set deficit, registered a momentum-shifting .556 hitting percentage, had five kills and didn't commit an error in the decisive fifth set.
Senior outside hitter Cassidy Mrotek (Manitowoc, Wis.) followed with 13 kills, 20 digs, one block and a service ace for the Pioneers. Senior outside hitter Sydney Wilkins (Portage, Ind.) finished with eight kills, freshman middle blocker MacKenzie Olson (Rock Falls, Ill.) collected seven kills and five blocks while freshman defensive specialist Emily Konop (Oregon, Wis.) finished with 15 digs.
Senior setter Emma Przeslicke (Evergreen Park, Ill.) had a team-best 24 assists and senior setter Jennilyn Joy Cave (Bolingbrook, Ill.) added 20 assists.
Grace Tomhave had a team-high 12 kills and four blocks for Wisconsin Lutheran, which dropped to 1-6 overall.
