Women’s Track Wins Opening Meet

Kenosha, Wis. – The Carroll University women's track and field team began their shortened CCIW conference only indoor season today at the Tarble Athletic Center, on the campus of Carthage College. The women's team took home a first-place finish, tallying 127 total points.
 
On the track, freshman Lexi Elegbede-Peer recorded her first colligate victory in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.50. Hannah Bouwkamp, who finished runner-up to Elegbede-Peer, took home a victory in the 200-meter dash, edging second place by .05 seconds. Lily Stemper collected a gold of her own in the 55-meter hurdles with a quick 10.18.
 
From the field side, Jessica Mueller hit the 10' 6" mark (3.20 meters) in a pole vault victory. Julia Kolton jumped to a 4.42-meter height (14' 6") in her final attempt, securing the victory over her teammates in the long jump. Freshman Vanessa Uitenbroek only needed on attempt to hit the winning 12.04-meter mark in the shot put, winning by .14 meters. Morgan Davister, all-conference from a year ago, grabbed a victory in the weight throw with a 14.88-meter toss.
 
The women's program will take a week off before returning to Carthage for another tri-meet on Saturday, Feb. 13.
