MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Carroll University women's basketball team outscored MSOE 41-14 in the second half to cruise to a 70-36 win over the raiders. Sophomore forward
Allison Thompson scored a career-high and team-high 17 points while collecting nine rebounds in the victory. Freshman guard
Natalie Palzkill dished out a team-high five assists.
The Pioneers (1-0, 0-0 CCIW) shot just 35.5% from the floor in the first half, showing signs of first-game jitters. Carroll settled in during the second half shooting 51.5% from the floor including 6-14 (42.9%) from three. Sophomore guard

Theresa Wichser led with six points each in the first half of action. Carroll hauled in 43 rebounds and collected 10 steals from the struggling Raiders. Carroll shared the ball well with 21 total assists and got 31 of their 70 points from the bench.
Brooke Foster (7 PTS, 3 REB, 3 STL) scored the first basket of the 2021-22 season with a drawn-up out-of-bounds play assisted by Rohner. Carroll found themselves down five early, but with the help of two Wichser threes, Carroll quickly had a 10-3 lead with 3:55 remaining in the first quarter. Rohner hit two free-throws to give Carroll a 14-9 lead after one.
Elizabeth Behrndt (7 PTS, 2 REB) scored a quick two off a turnover by MSOE to push the lead to seven quickly in the second quarter.
Lauren Soyke (4 PTS, 3 REB) helped push the lead to ten for the first time in the game with a jumper outside the paint with less than four minutes in the half. MSOE finished with three straight points to cut the lead to seven going into half.
Wichser knocked down her third three of the night within the first minute of the second half. Rohner drove to the bucket with 7:59 remaining and laid it in to move the score to 37-22 Pios.
Katie Evans (6 PTS, 5 REB) scored all of her points in the third quarter with two top of the key three-pointers and pushed the lead to 19 with 10 minutes to play. Carroll finished the game on a 21-6 run, while Thompson scored 10 of the 21 Pioneer points on 5-5 shooting from the floor.
Carroll rests for a bit and will join a tournament in De Pere next week, facing off against St. Mary's of Indiana on Friday, and St. Norbert College on Saturday, the 13
th.
