Women’s Track and Field Sprint to a First Place Finish

Kenosha, Wis. – The Carroll University women's track and field team captured their third victory of the season at the Carthage Tri-meet on Saturday in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The women collected 121 points and nine first-place finishes. Many personal bests were broken today, and Head Coach Shawn Thielitz said, "It was a really good team confidence-boosting meet."
 
In the track events, Lexi Elegbede-Peer continued her winning streak, by grabbing a first-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.46. Elegbede-Peer finished in second place in the 200-meter dash, less than a second behind the winner. Hannah Bouwkamp collected four points for the Pios in the event and grabbed seven more points with a win in the 400-meter with a time of 1:02.76. Alli Spitzer, Abby Brinkman, and Natalie Dresang collected a total of 12 points in the 800-meter, with Spitzer grabbing the win with a time of 2:25.15. Lily Stemper grabbed a win in the 55-meter hurdles with a 10.84 and seven Pio points. The Carroll DMR squad finished with a time of 4:49.38 and a victory.
 
In field events, Pios collected 16 points in the long jump, including a first-place finish from Josie Eberle with a jump of 4.82 meters. Jessica Muller reached a 3.36-meter height in the pole vault, good for a first-place finish and seven points. Eberle and Stemper were right behind with a third and fourth-place finish. Sydney Halversen collected five points in the high jump with a second-place finish. In the pole vault, Jessica Mueller picked up another first-place finish with a 3.36-meter finish. In the weight throw, Jamie Pankratz collected her first victory of the season, with a throw of 15.37 meters. Vanessa Uitenbroek only needed two throws to capture a first-place finish with a throw of 12.46-meters. Morgan Davister and Holly Reynolds added six more points to the total with third and fifth place finishes, respectively.
