Pioneers win second straight

Strong first half propels Carroll in 17-8 home-field nonconference victory over Aurora

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Senior Clara Jelacic finished with a team-high six goals, 10 draw controls, two ground balls and two caused turnovers as the Carroll University women's lacrosse team defeated Aurora University 17-8 in a sunny nonconference game at Schneider Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It was the second consecutive home-field victory of the young season for Carroll, which improved to 2-1 overall.
The Pioneers outscored Aurora 10-2 in what became a key, momentum-shifting opening half, including six unanswered goals over the course of the final 14 minutes.
The dominant performance took on added meaning as it extended Carroll's home-field winning streak to five games dating back to February 26, 2020 (a 21-7 nonconference victory over Beloit College in the home opener).
The Pioneers have combined to outscore their last two opponents 38-12, highlighted by a statement-making 27-3 margin in the first half.
Jelacic, a 2019 College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin first-team selection, has combined to score 11 goals in the team's two home-field victories.
Senior Courtenay Karls and sophomore Katrina Hardin each contributed four goals and an assist for Carroll, which outshot the Spartans 28-16 in the contest with a 22-12 shot-on-goal differential.
