WAUKESHA, Wis. - Senior
Courtenay Karls finished with a team-high five goals, seven draw controls, two ground balls and an assist to lead the Carroll University women's lacrosse team to a 15-6 victory over Hamline University in a cool, windy nonconference game at Schneider Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It was the third consecutive home-field victory of the early season for Carroll, which improved to 3-1 overall.
The Pioneers outscored Hamline 10-3 in the first half, including five unanswered goals in the opening six minutes.
The dominant, focused effort took on added significance as it extended Carroll's home-field winning streak to six games dating back to February 26, 2020 (a 21-7 nonconference victory over Beloit College in the home opener).
The Pioneers have combined to outscore their last three opponents 53-18, powered by a 37-6 margin in the first half.
Karls, a team captain and one of six battle-tested seniors on the roster, converted all three of her free-position shot opportunities in the contest and has combined for 13 goals with a team-best five assists through four games this season.

Clara Jelacic contributed four goals, six draw controls, three ground balls, two assists and a caused turnover for Carroll, which outshot Hamline 35-14 (including a 26-8 shot-on-goal advantage).

Katrina Hardin each followed with two goals and an assist for the Pioneers, who were successful on 7 of 11Â free-position shots.

Zoe Esveldt each added a goal for the balanced, high-powered Pioneers.
Sophomore
Rebecca McDaniel registered two saves in playing 45 minutes, 43 seconds to help preserve a victory.
Taryn Leonard, Maya Hernandez and Ashley Hessler each scored two goals for Hamline, which dropped to 1-2 overall.
