Bloomington, Ill. – The Carroll University women's track and field team competed well at the CCIW Elite Invitational on Saturday, with freshman
Lexi Elegbede-Peer breaking the school's 60-meter dash record.
In track events, Elegbede-Peer's new 60-meter record time of 8.05 secured a sixth-place finish in a highly contested event.
Alli Spitzer earned a third-place finish in the mile run with a time of 5:16.34. The women's 4x400-meter team of Spitzer,
Hannah Bouwkamp,
Abby Brinkman, and
Abbey Casey collected a fourth-place with a time of 4:21.57. Spitzer and Brinkman finished sixth and ninth, respectively in the 800-meter run, and Bouwkamp earned ninth in the 400-meter dash.
In field events,
Morgan Davister secured a second-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 15.74-meters.
Jamie Pankratz added with a fifth-place, 15.41-meter throw.
Vanessa Uitenbroek finished third with a 12.29-meter distance in the shot put. Davister and
Cate Gudaitis finished in sixth and eight, respectively.
Sydney Halversen and
Sarah Gomez finished closely together in the high-jump, with jumps of 1.50-meters and 1.45-meters.
With indoor track and field season wrapped up, the women will compete soon in outdoor events this spring.
