WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's track and field team placed fourth in its own 10-team Carroll Alumni Invitational at the Dennis Punches Track and Field Complex on Saturday.
The prestigious annual outdoor meet was dedicated to the memory of Carroll (College) 1963 alumnus Steve Sippy, a celebrated prolific former track and field/cross country legend and 1976 inductee into the Carroll Athletics Hall of Fame.
Sippy passed away on March 10, 2021 at age 79 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Maddy Blaedow finished second in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:47.83 and
Jamie Pankratz was second in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.60m (or 149-7) to lead Carroll, which finished with 75.78 points within the talented field of teams.
Other individuals placing within the top eight for the Pioneers were:
Alli Spitzer, third in the 1,500 (5:06.39) and fourth in the 800 (2:28.81);
Sarah Gomez, third in high jump (1.45m or 4-9);
Vanessa Uitenbroek, third in shot put (12.09m or 39-8);
Hannah Bouwkamp, fourth in 100 (13.35) and sixth in 200 (28.24);
Sydney Halversen, fourth (tie) in high jump (1.40m or 4-7);
Abby Alberts, fourth (tie) in high jump (1.40m or 4-7);
Morgan Davister, fourth in discus (37.90m or 124-4);
Josie Eberle, fifth in long jump (4.68m or 15-4.25) and sixth in javelin (27.23m or 89-4);
Haiden Zimmerman, sixth in discus (36.05m or 118-3);
Olivia Dunkleberger, seventh in long jump (4.51m or 14-9.75) and
Cate Gudaitis, seventh in both javelin (26.45m or 86-9) and discus (35.82m or 117-6).
St. Norbert College won the meet title with 140 points, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point was second with 118 points and Ripon College was third with 84.28 points.
