Women’s Track Wins Fourth Straight Meet

Kenosha, Wis. – The Carroll University women's track and field program continued their hot streak by winning their fourth straight Firebird tri-meet this week, by collecting 125 points on Saturday afternoon.
 
In track events, Lexi Elegbede-Peer collected a fourth straight win in her fourth career 55-meter race with a 7.46 second sprint. Hannah Bouwkamp and Victoria Watson finished first and third respectively for 11 points in the 400-meter race. Abby Brinkman won a nail biter in the 800-meter, claiming seven points with a time of 2:27.42, .32 seconds faster than second place. Alli Spitzer and Abbey Casey collectively added 11 points in the one mile run, with Spitzer dominating by 26 seconds in the win. Carroll's 4x400 meter team of Brinkman, Casey, Spitzer and Bouwkamp finished with a 4:33.53 and five points for second place.
 
In field events, Jessica Mueller claimed another victory in the pole vault with a height of 3.38-meters. Josie Eberle and Elisa Weier were not far behind with third and fourth place finishes. Eberle, Julia Kolton, and Weier added 14 collective points in the long jump, including an Eberle first place finish with the only 5 meter jump of the day. Olivia Dunkleberger secured a victory with two jumps at 9.44-meters in the triple jump. The women's shot put crew cleaned up in the event, taking four of the top six spots including a win from Vanessa Uitenbroek with a toss of 13.06-meters. Jamie Pankratz collected a victory in the weight throw, with her teammate Morgan Davister finishing with a close second place.
 
When all the final results are recorded, the Pioneers and other CCIW programs will send the top eight conference performers in each event to the CCIW Elite Eight invitational next weekend at Illinois Wesleyan.
