Waukesha, Wis. – The Carroll University men's tennis team fell to another CCIW opponent Saturday afternoon in Waukesha. The Pioneers fell to the visiting North Central Cardinals, 0-9. The Pioneers fall to 1-6, and 0-5 in the CCIW.
In doubles,
Lucas Nay and
Brian Trefliek had a close opportunity to grab a win, but fell 5-8.
Ryan Strupp and
Luke Barter, along with
Chris Jensen and
Jordan Nowell, dropped their doubles matches 0-8 respectively.
In singles, Nay struggled in the first set, but stormed back to challenge the Cardinals' number one. Nay eventually fell in straight sets 1-6, 6-7. Strupp was able to secure four match wins in two sets, falling 2-6, 2-6. Trefliek (0-6, 1-6), Barter (1-6, 0-6), and Jensen (0-6, 0-6) dropped their matchups as well. The No. 6 spot was left vacant by the Pioneers, as the Cardinals won by default for the 9
th victory of the afternoon.
Carroll visits Wheaton Next Saturday for the final CCIW dual meet before the conference tournament begins in May.
