WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University men's lacrosse team lost to Elmhurst University 24-3 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin game at Schneider Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
It was the third home-field loss of the season for Carroll, which dropped to 0-5 in conference following the Senior Day contest (honoring the efforts of
Abe Escarda,
Airik Ranjo and
Cordell McNamara).
Elmhurst, which improved to 3-2 in league and 7-5 overall, outscored the Pioneers 19-1 in the decisive first half (powered by 10 unanswered goals in the opening quarter).
Danny McGee finished with two goals, six ground balls and three caused turnovers for Carroll, which was outshot 68-18 (including a 41-11 shot-on-goal margin).
Zach Mehrtens had the other goal and
Josh Kovach added an assist.
Spencer Lautner contributed a team-high nine ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Escarda, who recently eclipsed the 600-career save mark, registered 24 in playing the entire 60 minutes.
Ben Berke contributed five goals and two assists for Elmhurst.
