Jamie Pankratz, Vanessa Uitenbroek star for Pioneers in push to solidify spots in nationals

WHITEWATER, Wis. - Several members of the Carroll University women's track and field team continued to make strong impressions at the John Kruchoski Open (hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater) at the Rex Foster Track Complex on Saturday.
Vanessa Uitenbroek won the discus, finishing with a season-best distance of 45.01 meters (or 147-8), accomplishing the mark on her memorable second attempt to move into 12th in the nation in NCAA Division III according to a list compiled by TFRRS.org. (Track & Field Results Reporting System).
It was a successful weekend for Uitenbroek, a freshman from Kaukauna, Wis., who was coming off a victory at North Central College's Dr. Keeler Invitational with a previous personal-best (43.57m or 142-11) on Thursday.
Jamie Pankratz, a junior from Fond du Lac, Wis., added a victory in the hammer throw with a distance of 49.23 meters (or 161 feet, 6 inches) on her third attempt and is currently ranked 34th in the nation.
Pankratz's season best came on May 7th with a distance of 50.20m (or 164-8), established at the College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin Outdoor Championships on May 8th.
Other individual placements for the Pioneers were: Josie Eberle, second in long jump (4.82m or 15-9.75) and Sydney Halversen, third in high jump (1.54m or 5-0.50).
No team scores were kept in the meet.
