Carroll women prepared to make strong impression at CCIW Outdoor Championships

Pioneers scheduled to compete in prestigious league meet hosted by Augustana College on May 7-8

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Carroll University women's track and field team is scheduled to compete in the College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin Outdoor Championships (hosted by Augustana College) at Knowlton Outdoor Athletics Complex in Rock Island, Ill. May 7-8.
Carroll finished sixth in the prestigious, challenging nine-team competition during its last appearance back in 2019.
The Pioneers, who are ranked 18th in the Midwest Region by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) will be led by graduate student Emily Uitenbroek.
Uitenbroek is currently seeded No. 1 in both the CCIW and NCAA Division III in the hammer throw with a distance of 55.59 meters (or 182 feet, 4 inches) in a list compiled by TFRRS.org. (Track & Field Reporting System), having re-established her own school record in the event at the Warrior Invitational on April 17th.
The standout thrower from Kaukauna, Wis. is also seeded 10th in the CCIW in javelin (32.16m or 105-6).
Morgan Davister is seeded second in the CCIW and seventh nationally in the discus (44.68m or 146-7) and second in shot put (12.93m or 42-5.25).
Davister, a standout junior thrower from Casco, Wis. who recently earned CCIW Field Athlete of the Week, achieved her season-best mark in discus at the Don Church Invitational (hosted by Wheaton College).
Other individuals seeded within the top-eight in the CCIW for the Pioneers are: Josie Eberle, first in heptathlon (3,482 points) and seventh in long jump (5.08m or 16-8); Abby Alberts, second in heptathlon (2,841 points);Vanessa Uitenbroek, third in shot put and 33rd in the nation (12.83m or 42-1.25) and fourth in discus (42.42m or 139-2); Jamie Pankratz, tied for third in hammer throw and 37th nationally (48.63m or 159-6); Olivia Dunkleberger, third in heptathlon (2,721 points); Jessica Mueller, fourth in pole vault (3.22m or 10-6.75); Maddy Blaedow, fifth in 10,000 (43:47.23); Sydney Halversen, tied for fifth in high jump (1.52m or 4-11.75); Alli Spitzer, seventh in 800 (2:22.46) and eighth in 1,500 (4:55.08) and Kaitlyn Brucci, eighth in shot put (11.75m or 38-6.75)
The 4x400 relay of Spitzer, Abby Brinkman, Victoria Watson and Eberle is seeded seventh (4:24.86). The 4x100 relay of Mueller, Halversen, Lexie Seals and Eberle is eighth (53.70).
"Everyone is excited about being able to compete once again at a championship-caliber meet like the CCIW Outdoor Championships," said Carroll head coach Shawn Thielitz, of his team's mind-set coming into the challenging, highly anticipated weekend. "The ladies have worked hard since January in preparation for this meet so if we compete with high self confidence I like our team's chances.
"Throughout the course of the season, the upperclasswomen have been instrumental in our success with their leadership and work ethic, setting a great example for our freshmen."
