Peyton Frost finished with a team-high 13 kills as the Carroll University women's volleyball team swept Ripon College 25-19, 25-13, 25-17 in a season-opening nonconference dual meet at Van Male Field House on Wednesday night.
Katie Jensen followed with seven kills and a block for Carroll, which amassed 14 kills in the critical opening set.
It was a dominant home opener for the Pioneers, who had 43 points, 35 digs, 33 kills, 28 assists, seven service aces and three blocks.
Leading 21-19 in the first set, Carroll responded with four unanswered points to close out the key, momentum-shifting stretch (capped with a set-clinching kill by Frost).
The Pioneers used a 9-1 run to power to a second-set victory, highlighted by six straight service points by
Emily Schliesman.
Carroll led 22-17 in the final set and answered with a decisive 3-0 run to close out the effort, sparked on an initial kill by
Bella Alfaro.
Cathleen Flannery contributed five kills, two aces and two assists for Carroll.
Caitlin Laird collected nine digs with Schliesman adding two aces, eight digs and 20 assists.
Inesha Wiseman had a team-best five kills for Ripon.
