Carroll finishes 0-2 on opening day of Bear Invitational

ST. LOUIS, Missouri - The Carroll University women's volleyball team went 0-2 in the opening round of the Bear Invitational (hosted by Washington University in St. Louis) on Friday.
The Pioneers, 1-2 overall this season, lost their first dual to Webster University 25-16, 25-17, 25-16 and fell to Washington University 27-25, 25-17, 25-19 to round out the first round of the challenging early-season road trip.
Cathleen Flannery combined for a team-high 19 kills, 12 digs, one service ace and a block to help lead the Pioneers, who swept Ripon College in a season-opening nonconference dual Wednesday.

DUAL 1

Flannery generated 10 kills, one ace and a block to lead the Pioneers versus Webster.
Ashley Konecki followed with six kills and a block for Carroll, which generated 29 kills (including 10 in both the second and third games), 46 digs, 28 aassists, three aces and a block.
Peyton Frost collected five kills for the Pioneers.
Emily Schliesman contributed 13 digs and 17 assists with Caitlin Laird adding 10 digs and four assists in the effort.
Lauren Borik finished with a team-best 11 kills for Webster, which improved to 3-0 overall.

DUAL 2

Flannery finished with nine kills and 12 digs for Carroll in the battle with Washington Univ. in St. Louis.
Frost had six kills and Konecki collected five kills for the Pioneers, who had 27 kills, 57 digs, 21 assists, six blocks and two aces.
Sofia Camacho registered a team-high four blocks, Schliesman contributed nine digs and 12 assists and Kloe Longtin added 20 assists.
Michaela Bach and Alaina Bohrer each had 11 kills for Washington, 2-0 in the tournament.
