NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Carroll University women's swimming and diving team defeated North Central College 75-16 in a College Conference of Illinois-Wisconsin dual meet Saturday.
It was the first conference dual victory of the season for Carroll, which improved to 1-1 in the league standings and 2-2 overall.
Kara Loy won the 50 freestyle (27.09) and 100 freestyle (1:00.18) and swam the second leg of the winning 400 freestyle relay to lead the Pioneers, who captured nine events in the dominant road effort.
Joselyn Peterson followed with an individual victory in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.18), anchored the winning 400 medley relay and swam the opening leg of the first-place 400 freestyle relay.
Ingrid Hay contributed a victory in the 100 backstroke (1:02.49), swam the opening leg of the 400 medley relay and anchored the 400 freestyle relay.
Other athletes claiming victories for Carroll were: Chopper Ceshker, 1,650 freestyle (20:34.62); Kailee Sitter, 400 individual medley (5:15.46) and Emily Wong, 100 butterfly (1:01.91).
The 400 medley relay (consisting of Hay, Brooke Wills, Wong and Peterson) won in a time of 4:17.70. The 400 freestyle relay (Peterson, Loy, Anina Lee and Hay) finished in 3:56.79.
"The swimmers performed very well at this meet (noting that the men's and women's teams earned dual-meet victories on the same day for the first time this season) even with the highly intense training over the past two weeks and were able to get their hand to the wall first," said Carroll head coach Guy Gniotczynski, of the successful performance to begin the new year. "We are very excited for our final home meet and Senior Day recognition on Jan. 22."
Carroll is scheduled to host former Midwest Conference rival Beloit College in a nonconference dual meet at Van Male Natatorium on Saturday at 1 p.m.
